Government officials in the Philippines disclose their properties and financial status through the Statements of Assets and Liabilities or more commonly called SALN. Based on the 2020 SALN of the incumbent senators, there are two (2) lawmakers in the Senate who are billionaires.

The two (2) billionaire senators are Sen. Cynthia Villar and Sen. Manny Pacquiao. Undeniably, these two (2) lawmakers have already made a huge amount of money in other fields before they entered politics.

The richest senator, Sen. Cynthia Villar, is known in the business field. She and her family are into residential property businesses apart from their many other businesses across the nation.

The other billionaire senator in the Philippines, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, got most of his richest from his boxing fights. More commonly called in sports as Pacman, he defeated several big names in the field.

Pacquiao is also a champion in eight divisions. It is no secret to the public that he was born to a poor family and his success in the boxing field has greatly helped him uplift their financial status.

Now, the Pacquiao family owns several properties not only in the Philippines but as well as abroad. They also got several businesses managed by the Senator’s wife, Jinkee Pacquiao.
