The priest told Cappeau to bring his poem to Adolphe Adam, who was a prolific composer, writing music for several operas and ballets including Giselle. The result was simply titled “Cantique de Noël” or “Christmas Carol.” This premiered in 1847, performed by local opera singer Emily Laurey.
