Gummy Bears: Who Invented These Sweet Treats?

Although Reigel was the first to create gummy bears, gelatin-based sweets actually existed before this. However, Susan Benjamin, a candy historian, author, and the owner of True Treats Historic Candy in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia noted that the Reigel fine-tuned the formula and his candy’s bear-shaped design was “very comforting and sweet.”
