Although Thailand was never colonized but it was occupied, based on the article from Culture Trip. During the World War II, the country, which was known as Siam back then, was occupied by Japanese.

Siam was used by Japanese in order to reach Malaya (modern-day Malaysia and Singapore) and Burma (now Myanmar) that were under the British power at that time.
