David Foster was the producer of the song and he bought the Linda Ronstadt version to be Houston’s reference. When he called Parton to tell her that they use her song, she said that the Ronstadt version did not include the “I wish you joy and happiness…” lyrics. With this Foster asked director Mick Jackson to give him additional 40 seconds of screen time as the song was included in the movie.
