McDonald’s Happy Meal: The History Of The Child-Friendly Meal Package
In the early 1970s, the actual menu was far from being friendly to kids. Adults did not enjoy staying long inside the restaurant just to wait for kids to finish their meal. In 1973, McDonald’s biggest rival Burger Chef introduced the Fun Meal which was a cardboard box with games, riddles, and comic strips, and inside a burger, fries, a sugary treat, and soda were placed. Then, there would be a toy or small vinyl record inside.
