One of the traditions that Burmese people are still observing until now is the applying of thanaka on their faces. In the modern times, this is can be referred to makeup or cosmetics.

This “natural skin cosmetic” came from the bark of thanaka tree. Burmese people grind the bark on a stone plate with water until the juice comes out and eventually it will turn to paste.
