The first part the was reconstructed was the Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel’s iron framework. Then, other parts were joined together with the aid of steam-driven cranes and derricks.

Eiffel used the technique that Eugene Viollet-le-Duc developed in sculpting the skin of the Statue of Liberty. This process is described as molding light-weight copper sheets by hammering them onto the hallowed wooden framework of the monument.
