She is one of the women in NASA who is tagged “Mother of Hubble”. Roman became instrumental in establishing the Hubble Telescope program structure.

Aside from this, she was also the first chief astronomer in NASA and helped in launching three orbiting solar observatories and three small astronomical satellites.
