Science writer Sam Kean said that when one is looking at somebody, the left side of that person is more emotionally powerful.

Looking at someone uses the right brain (that specializes in faces and is extra good at reading emotions) mainly through the left side of the body. When you are looking at the face of a person, “your right brain pulls in information from the left of your visual field,” an article in NPR stated.
