Back then, ice was gathered from lakes, ponds, and rivers, and was stored under straw and bark. When summer arrived, it was for cooling drinks, making water ices and ‘iced creams’. However, since the ice was not fit to be edible at that time, it was just used to chill and freeze food and drinks.
