Dead Man’s Fingers Fungus Looks Like A Creepy Halloween Decoration

This is not a creepy Halloween decoration in the backyard because it is actually called Dead Man’s Fingers Fungus.

Its scientific name is Xylaria polymorpha and usually appears at the base of beechwood stumps. There are instances that this can also be found on other buried hardwoods.
