Vincent: What’s The Story Behind This Song Of Don McLean?

In an interview on February 24, 2010, by The Daily Telegraph, he shared the story of this song. The singer-songwriter said that he wrote the song in the autumn of 1970 while he was sitting on the veranda one morning. At that time, McLean was reading a biography of Van Gogh and he thought that he has to create a song to refute that the artist was “crazy”.
