On October 13, 1792, builders started constructing the cornerstone of the president’s residence while on August 18, 1793, the Capitol cornerstone was built.

As time went by, the White House has underwent several renovations. Among the remarkable changes in this building was the installation of electric lights in 1902 under the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt.
