Bungee Jumping: Where & How This Nerve-Racking Sport Started

Is it bungee jumping or bungy jumping? There is no conscious effort to correct the spelling. The term “bungee” was coined by Oxford University Dangerous Sports Club but in New Zealand where this sport was first popularized, the term “bungy” is often used.
