Michelle did not actually start the fire to be an actress. Businessman Dickson Poon, the co-founder of D&B Films was looking for someone who would appear with Jackie Chan in a TV ad. When Poon was dining with his friend, the latter suggest that he should get Michelle who was known at that time as Miss Malaysia. The businessman went to Hong Kong and offered Michelle an acting project and as they say, the rest is history.
