Alfred Mosher Butts, an architect in New York, was the one who invented this board game back in 1933. In creating this game, he determined how many tiles for each letter and the corresponding points through his calculation of the letter through the frequency of each letter on the front page of The New York Times, based on the article in Mental Floss.
