She was 18 years old when she boarded Titanic, a newlywed. She got married to 47-year-old divorcee John Jacob “JJ” Astor.

Madeleine, along with JJ, was supposed to go home after a long honeymoon abroad and getting pregnant. However, JJ did not survive the accident. She gave birth to a son that summer but life has not been easy for her.

She was entitled to a trust as long as she didn’t remarry. However, she remarried in 1916 and divorced later on. Then, she remarried again and unfortunately, it was with an abusive Italian boxer. At the age of 46, Madeleine died in 1940.
