Chuquicamata, Chile

This is found outside the city of Kalama and an area for copper mining since the late 1870s, based on Watch Mojo. Chuquicamata is considered to be the largest mining area for copper. It measures 2.8 miles long, over 2 miles wide, and almost 3,000 feet deep.
