Barbie was born on March 9, 1959. This day was the time when it was first introduced at American International Toy Fair in New York, based on the article in Mental Floss. The first Barbie wore a black and white striped one-piece for a pool party.

It captured the attention of many people at the fair because it was the first-ever doll that was not modeled from a baby. At that time, Barbie has no belly button feature and it was just added 40 years later.
