The Peacock Mantis Shrimps helped scientists in building better body armor. Experts wanted to know why these creatures can deliver deadly blows without hurting themselves. Researchers found out that the dactyl clubs of these creatures consisted of an outer coating of hydroxyapatite, a hard crystalline calcium-phosphate ceramic material – an anti-fracturing property.
